Our next meeting is at 7:00 PM next week, Monday, December 20; located in the Parish Center. Please bring a dessert to share (take time to eat dinner at home). Salvation Army Bell-Ringing...in a Blizzard
Some Webelos scouts did try to get the bell-ringing done, but the snow and wind were such that the Salvation Army told the bell ringers to go home. Here are a few pictures from then:

Camp Akela 2010
5 Bears and 3 First-Year Webelos, plus 7 dads, had a great time at Camp Akela this past weekend, despite the heat & humidity. Besides camping, eating, and surviving the weather, the boys built toolboxes, earned their whittling chips, learned how to build a fire, went boating & swimming, and of course: bb guns and archery!

Rice Street Parade a big hit!
Pack 66 was placed way up front of this year's Rice Street Parade, in slot 13, just before the Vulcans. And to top it off, 2 of our Webelos were asked to carry the leading "Rice Street Parade" banner, and 2 other scouts were asked to carry another banner, not far behind. We've never had such great visibility before, and the boys did a great job!

This year’s Tigers, Wolves, Bears (and their parents) are invited to camp together for two nights and three days at Camp Phillipo near Cannon Falls, MN. Pinewood Derby 2010
This year's Pinewood Derby was another fun day of fast, flashy cars, not to mention pizza and other goodies. Congrats to this year's winners: Eli, James, and Galen!

Polar Camp 2010
We couldn't have asked for better winter conditions for Polar Camp this year, at Camp Greenwood. Over a foot of snow on the ground, with more falling throughout the day, and hardly any wind. The boys had a great time playing games in the snow, making a craft, and best of all: snow-tubing!

Raingutter Regatta 2010
Update: Congrats all our budding young sea captains! I posted some pictures online of today's races at http://picasaweb.google.com/scoutpack66/RaingutterRegatta2010?feat=directlink.
The annual Raingutter Regatta will be held this coming Saturday, January 23rd, 2010.
- This event is scheduled from 11 am - 1 pm.
- Dens will meet at Saint Bernard's Parish Center and lunch will be provided.
- Parent participation is recommended, however if a parent is unable to attend, they can drop off and pick up their scout if they leave a contact number (in case the event ends early).
No prep is needed for the Raingutter Regatta*. We'll have boat kits, and the boys assemble/decorate their boats just before the races begin.
* Of course, the Frese boys have been practicing in the basement for the past month! ;-)

Archery Day 2010
4rd Annual North Star District
Cub Scout Archery Day
Update:
Several boys from Pack 66 practiced shooting bows and arrows at this year's District Archery Day. The boys are getting pretty accurate now, and when you see the power released from even a kid-size compound bow, we appreciate why safety is a top priority!
Pics online here: http://picasaweb.google.com/scoutpack66/ArcheryDay2010?feat=directlink
We’ll have an indoor archery range set up for the Scouts. Volunteers will be on hand to help teach your Scouts how to safely shoot a bow.
When:
Saturday, January 9, 2010
Time: Check-in starts at 9:00am
Shooting starts at 9:30am
Event ends when the Scouts are done!
